Defining Internet Infidelity

Infidelity is defined as “the action or state of being unfaithful to a spouse or other sexual partner”. Online, or internet infidelity, has been a growing trend in the past ten years with the popularity of social media sites.

It includes activities such as cybersex and sexual chat to emotional involvements online, flirting, chatting, lying to the online contact, and activities which interfere with real-life relationships.

Due to its partnership with social networking sites millennials may be inclined to commit internet infidelity more than older generations. 

Psychologists claim that the internet creates a "super highway" for individuals to step outside their relationship and that this super highway can create a false sense of security.

23% of men and 15% of women in the United States have engaged in an extramarital affair.

 

If us millennials can think before we act, and avoid the temptations, we can make the world a more moral place where cheating is unacceptable even with "super highways" such as the internet.
