A piece from the narrative genre is used to tell or enact a story. That story can range from a personal account to a news story. Both serve the purpose of expressing something. The piece I chose is a comedic piece from comedian Louis C.K. The purpose of this comedic piece was to, not only entertain his audience, but to convey to them his feelings on a subject. His audience is whoever has paid money to see his show and whoever is going to listen to it online. Essentially, the audience is his fans who follow his comedy. Louis C.K. uses ethos by calling upon everyone to open their mind and hear what he has to say about how he feels and to see if they feel the same. The modes are visual and audio. The media used to access this piece could be the TV, internet, or phone. The style of his skit is simplistic without much variation in activity. In other words, he isn’t doing much activity but standing there and telling his piece which helps it to resonate with the audience better because there are no distractions. This piece could be transferred to be only a visual mode by taking a picture of Louis C.K. with a quote from the show over his face (in other words, a meme). In fact, people on the internet have done such a conversion. This narrative piece is comical yet it still tells a story and gets a point across.
