For years Morgan, Kayla, and Bekah were the best of friends. Morgan and Kayla met in Kindergarten at Ocean Palms elementary. They were two peas in a pod and did everything together. They hung out at recess together, sat next to each other in every class, hung out on the weekends together; their friendship was one for the books. It seemed to be the two of them against the world. However, when Bekah moved to Ocean Palms in third grade she was invited into the group and the duo became a trio. Bekah joined the weekly hangouts and a seat was pulled up in every class. However, Bekah always felt like a piece was missing. She suspected that since Morgan and Kayla had known each other longer that she was never fully part of the group. It didn’t help that sometimes inside jokes were made without her and the two other girls would not include her in other activities too. Such as double dates, being partners in class projects, etc. For the next 10 years, Bekah was faced with the tough decision of leaving her longtime friend group because they never fully included her or to stick with them since she’s known them for so long and they talked every day. This tough decision lingered with her every day throughout middle and high school. She thought that once she left for college at the end of high school her decision would be made for her or be easier for her to make. However, when Morgan and Kayla surprised Bekah by applying to the same college as her things got tough and when they all three got in things got tougher. Bekah tried to stay positive and the three continued to hang when they first got to school. They frequented ‘The Sweet Shop’ and one day wrote all three of their names on the wall. However, throughout the following months Morgan and Kayla distanced Bekah more and more as they always had. Yet, Bekah wasn’t so sad about it anymore. She had met new friends from around the nation who welcomed her and included her. Finally, once January day Bekah decided to officially declare herself out of the group so she went back to The Sweet Shop and crossed her name off from the list. This was her final stand against Morgan and Kayla and she hasn’t talked to them since them. It’s been 4 years and she’s never been happier.
