Every one of these 31 infographics were appealing and informative to their intended audience. Some were intended for chefs, some for movie buffs, but they all served their purpose of informing and entertaining the audience. The infographic that I found the most helpful is the kitchen conversion sheet (#8). It appeals to me because I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. My whole family has always loved to cook and we always ague about the proper conversions. If this infographic was framed in our kitchen it would settle many arguments and help to keep the place in order.
The purpose of this piece is to remind chefs of the conversion table so that they don’t have to worry too much about finding their pesky measuring cups. It is print media. The mode is visual and its style is simplistic. I think the author did this because they want their audience to be able to quickly glance at the poster and have it help them. The rhetorical appeal here is logos because the measurements are facts and figures and not opinions. If the audience used ethos or pathos it wouldn’t make sense because the main reason for this poster is not to evoke emotions just to inform and remind. In this world there are too many things to remember so I think this conversion chart would help many chefs or bakers around the world.
